Five Cape Town City FC players and coach hijacked at gunpoint in Nyanga
Cape Town City FC confirmed {that a} automobile transporting 5 players and a coach was hijacked in Nyanga, Cape Town on Tuesday, 18 July.
Football social media publication Captured Sporting Moments printed the information. According to idiskitimes, the 5 players had been a part of the Citizens under-18 squad and had been resulting from play in a pleasant towards Everton FC.

The pleasant match was in preparation for an Engen knockout match and had been headed to a Nyanga when their automobile was hijacked yesterday (July 18)
The Toyota Avanza was stopped by gun-wielding perpetrators who compelled the players and coach out of the automotive. Items equivalent to soccer boots, passports and smartphones had been among the many objects stolen.

Head of Football Development & Recruitment at Cape Town City FC, Grant Veitch confirmed the incident to Captured Sporting Moments: “The Avanza tracker was removed 2 minutes after the hijacking. Thank goodness all the boys are ok. Just sad. Wanted to give back to the community by playing in the townships.”
At 18:56pm on Tuesday night the automobile was situated in the township of Philippi with not one of the Cape Town City players’ belongings.
