Anthony Joshua sets date for return to the ring

Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua will face American Jermaine Franklin at London’s O2 Arena on April 1.

Joshua is returning to the ring after two successive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, with the British fighter’s most up-to-date loss in opposition to the Ukrainian coming final August in Saudi Arabia.

The 33-year-old takes on Franklin in quest of his first victory since beating Kubrat Pulev in 2020.

Joshua was ringside in November when Franklin misplaced to Dillian Whyte at Wembley Arena, the first defeat of the American’s 22-fight profession.

There had been hypothesis prior to Joshua’s split-decision defeat in opposition to Usyk final 12 months that the former Olympic champion is perhaps set to stop boxing.

However, the third lack of Joshua’s profession has not introduced the curtain down and he’ll return to struggle at the O2 Arena for the first time since 2016.
