Seriously, Glenn, that is a difficult one. The Rules don’t give you the authority to elevate the ball — per Rule 14.1, authorization is the province of the participant, his or her associate or anybody the participant particularly authorizes.
That stated, there’s no penalty to you if you do mark and elevate it, since, in accordance to Rule 9.6, you’re an out of doors affect with respect to that participant and ball.
So, as the youngsters say, you do you.
