Austin Reaves, the rising star representing Team USA, just lately earned a commendation that any aspiring basketball participant would treasure – a praise from none aside from Kyrie Irving.
During Team USA’s preparation in opposition to Puerto Rico, the Mavericks famous person was visibly impressed by Reaves’ transfer, which he witnessed whereas doing an Instagram Live stream.
“Somebody tell Austin Reaves to stay out of coach [Phil] Handy’s coaching clinic,” Irving playfully remarked, lauding Reaves’ ball-handling abilities.
Reaves, in his characteristically humble method, responded to Irving’s praise after Team USA’s victory over Greece.
“It’s cool,” he stated with a modest smile. “I grew up watching Kyrie. His talent level is as high as it gets; he’s one of the most skilled players to ever play the game. So for him to compliment my game, it means a lot.
“He worked with Phil [Handy] for a long time in Cleveland. I think they still work together. So, he knows the work that Phil puts in. Phil’s every day is a grinder. I’ve got much love and much appreciation for Phil.”
