The New York Red Bulls and their forward Dante Vanzeir apologized on Monday after the Belgian made a racist remark throughout a Major League Soccer match towards the San Jose Earthquakes.

“I want to sincerely apologize to the players of the Earthquakes. I will do everything I can to be part of the change that needs to happen in this sport and our world,” the 24-year-old Vanzeir mentioned in an announcement.

Also in an announcement, the Red Bulls mentioned they “wholeheartedly apologize for the unacceptable events that transpired on Saturday night”.

“The words and inaction was inexcusable, and we believe there is never a place for it,” the crew mentioned.
The Austrian Struber mentioned that he regretted not instantly taking Vanzeir off the sphere following the incident.
Vanzeir, who has performed for his nation as soon as and moved to the Red Bulls in February from Belgian soccer, mentioned he’ll settle for any suspension or high quality from his membership or the MLS.
