Blitzboks target Cape Town Sevens title: All the fixtures, squad news

Coach Sandile Ngcobo is again in cost after lacking final week’s match attributable to damage.

Springbok Sevens head coach Sandile Ngcobo on Thursday named Tiaan Pretorius as the solely new participant in his squad for this weekend’s Cape Town Sevens match, with the former SA Schools centre changing the injured Christie Grobbelaar from the squad that gained the Dubai match final weekend.

Grobbelaar injured his ankle in Dubai and was dominated out, with Pretorius, who has performed in 5 tournaments, making a primary look in Cape Town.

Pretorius, who was schooled at Paul Roos Gymnasium and represented Western Province and SA Schools at centre, made his Blitzbok debut in Dubai in 2022.

“Tiaan has been around for a season or two now and understands what we want to achieve on the field,” mentioned Ngcobo.

“The benefit of getting him in the squad, bar his velocity, is that he can play both loosehead or hooker, just about like Ryan Oosthuizen as properly, and that provides us good choices to rotate. He can also be excellent on the ball and will probably be a menace at the breakdown when he’s on the subject.
