Carlos Sainz back, Oliver Bearman out

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz is about to be again within the cockpit on the Australian Grand Prix this weekend after recovering from surgical procedure for appendicitis, the group mentioned on Wednesday.

Sky Sports confirmed the information on Wednesday, as did RacingNews365.

The Spaniard missed the final Formula One race in Saudi Arabia, with 18-year-old British reserve driver Oliver Bearman a late alternative.

The teenage rookie completed a powerful seventh in his debut, driving with the cool aplomb of a seasoned campaigner to underline his large potential.

But Bearman is about to return to Formula 2 with Sainz match once more.

“Carlos Sainz is expected to be back in the car, having had to miss Jeddah with appendicitis,” Ferrari mentioned in its race preview.

Sainz got here third behind winner Max Verstappen and Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez on the opening race of the season in Bahrain.

Red Bull repeated the one-two feat in Jeddah, the place Sainz’s team-mate Charles Leclerc crammed the rostrum.

“We expect to be front runners on this track, which could produce a similar pecking order to the one seen in Jeddah,” Ferrari group principal Fred Vasseur mentioned of Melbourne’s Albert Park.

Sainz is leaving Ferrari on the finish of the season to make means for Mercedes’ seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
