Charles Leclerc extends his contract with Ferrari

Formula One driver Charles Leclerc has prolonged his keep with Scuderia Ferrari past 2024.

The 26-year-old continues to seek for his first ever world title having pushed for the Italian staff since 2018.

“A product of the Academy. Charles’ association with the Maranello marque goes back to before his time in Formula 1, as he joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016. After a dominant performance in the 2017 Formula 2 championship, the Monegasque then spent a year learning his trade at Sauber before first racing with the Scuderia in 2019,” Ferrari stated in a press release on Thursday.

In 2018, Leclerc grew to become the youngest driver within the Scuderia’s historical past to win a Grand Prix, with a victory on the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, a feat he repeated one week later in Monza in entrance of an ecstatic crowd.

In 2022, he gained an extra three Grands Prix on his strategy to ending second within the Drivers’ standings.

Known for his distinctive talents over a qualifying lap, at simply 26 years of age, Leclerc is already second within the listing of drivers who’ve secured pole place on the wheel of a Ferrari, equal on 23 with Niki Lauda, with solely the legendary Michael Schumacher forward on 58.

During his time with the Scuderia, Leclerc has taken half in 103 races, completed on the rostrum 30 instances, set seven quickest race laps, and scored 1035 factors.
