Cricket South Africa (CSA) plans to spend between R200 million and R400 million bettering South African cricket venues forward of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will host the occasion collectively. In 2024, South Africa assumed Under-19 World Cup host duties.
CSA commits to R400 million stadium upgrades
South Africa’s World Cup grounds would be the Wanderers in Johannesburg, Centurion Park in Pretoria, Kingsmead in Durban, St George’s Park in Gqeberha, Boland Park in Paarl, and Newlands in Cape Town. Some matches will even happen on the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein and Buffalo Park in East London.
In an interview with the Sunday Times CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki revealed that the organisation will assessment the eight venues over the following fortnight.
“Some of the grounds may be in need of more aid than others,” Moseki famous.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced that South Africa will host the Men’s World Cup 2027, along with Namibia and Zimbabwe in 2021.
