Daryll Cullinan believes Faf threw AB under the bus

Former Proteas cricketer Daryll Cullinan has clapped again at Faf du Plessis over controversial feedback he made in his autobiography.

The 56-year-old claimed the former Proteas captain ‘labored’ AB de Villiers out as captain.

De Villiers stepped down as captain of the Proteas again in 2017 after getting closely criticised for his captaincy at the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Du Plessis then took over as captain till 2020.

Cullinan made headlines final 12 months after he was talked about in du Plessis’ autobiography known as Faf: Through Fire. The batsman recalled the day Cullinan allegedly informed him to “take your bag and f**k off!” throughout his junior days with the Titans round 2004.

During his interview on The Cricket Nomad podcast which was out on Thursday, Cullinan refuted du Plessis model of occasions.

“He’s had a good career. I’ve been a big fan of his cricket, so it kind of took me by surprise. One would have thought he would have taken a bit more of a dignified approach even his approach to (Mark) Boucher and (Graeme) Smith,” Cullinan stated.

“And one in every of the worst-kept secrets and techniques in the world of cricket is the contempt and the poor relationship he has with AB (de Villiers). They’re not buddies.

“Faf threw AB under the bus at school still. My opinion is that he worked AB out as captain and my opinion is that I think AB wouldn’t come back if Faf was captain. Faf portrayed this friendship, there’s no friendship there. That’s one of the worst-kept secrets,” he stated in an inteview.
