Duminy says Proteas will put in a bigger performance in 2nd ODI

Proteas batting coach JP Duminy says the staff will bounce again following an embarrassing eight-wicket defeat to India in the primary ODI match in opposition to India this previous Sunday.

India managed to bowl out South Africa for simply 116 in the primary match of their ODI sequence on the Wanderers.

The 2023 World Cup finalist racing to an eight-wicket victory with greater than 33 overs to spare to safe their fourth straight ODI victory over the Proteas.

Indian’s bowling assault has been a drawback for the Proteas through the years and Duminy admitted the he and the staff have by no means chatted about their inconsistency in relation to batting particularly in opposition to spin.

“As a coach, I can’t say that is something we really consider. It’s certainly not something we’ve chatted about,” Duminy stated after their sport on the weekend.

“For us it’s really about coming up against the conditions and the opposition, and finding the right formula for us in terms of how we want to play the game,” Duminy was quoted on Citizen.

The Proteas now put together to face India in the second ODI match to be performed on the St George’s Oval in Gqeberha on Tuesday afternooon.

“I’ve got no doubt, come Tuesday, that we’ll be putting up a big performance, no matter what we have to do first,” Duminy stated.

“There are some great lessons for us, particularly as a batting unit, and that’s something we’ll reflect on and hopefully put in a bigger performance.”
