Ex-boxing world champion Deontay Wilder arrested on gun charge

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder was arrested in Los Angeles early on Tuesday for possession of a hid weapon, police stated.

The Los Angeles Police Department stated Wilder was detained within the early hours of Tuesday after being stopped by police whereas driving his Rolls Royce automotive in Hollywood.

He was subsequently booked on suspicion of carrying a hid firearm within the automobile.

He was launched at round 06:35 after making bail set at $35 000, the LAPD and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated.

According to the TMZ.com leisure information web site, Wilder was pulled over by police who alleged the home windows of his automotive had been illegally tinted and his license plate was obstructed.

Officers subsequently reported smelling “burnt marijuana” coming from the automobile and performed a search, which uncovered a firearm.

TMZ cited unidentified sources as saying Wilder was “cooperative and nice” all through the incident.

Wilder later appeared to handle his arrest in a cryptic put up on Twitter just a few hours after his launch.

“I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End,” Wilder wrote.

Wilder (43-2-1, 42 knockouts) returned to the ring after a year-long absence final 12 months following the third of his epic fights with World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in October 2021.
