Ferrari’s petition to evaluation the penalty handed to Carlos Sainz on the Australian Grand Prix earlier this month has been rejected by race stewards, the FIA introduced on Tuesday.

Sainz was given a five-second penalty for a collision with Fernando Alonso, with the Ferrari driver ending Twelfth as an alternative of fourth because the race ended behind the security automobile.
Stewards reconvened on Tuesday however stated Ferrari had not supplied adequate new proof.
The FIA stated Ferrari didn’t deliver “significant and relevant new information which was unavailable to the parties seeking the review at the time of the decision concerned”.

Alonso went on to complete the race in third regardless of the contact with Sainz which despatched his Aston Martin spinning.
On Tuesday, the stewards stated Sainz was “wholly to blame for the collision”.
Sainz had claimed the solar shining in his eyes was a cause why he shouldn’t be thought-about at fault.

“Logic would dictate that the position of the sun would have equally impacted other drivers too,” the FIA assertion continued.
“It is not a justifiable reason to avoid a penalty for a collision.”
The Spaniard will retain his Twelfth-placed end, with Ferrari failing to choose up any factors in Melbourne after Charles Leclerc was compelled to retire from the race.
“We are naturally disappointed, and felt that we had provided sufficient significant new elements for the FIA to re-examine the decision,” Ferrari stated in a press release.
The Italian staff are struggling after three races this season, sitting fourth within the constructors’ standings, already 97 factors behind leaders Red Bull.
