Gallants’ Mdaka optimistic of reaching Caf Cup final despite loss

Despite their loss to Young Africans FC, Marumo Gallants coach Raymond Mdaka stays optimistic that they are going to attain the final of the Caf Confederation Cup.

Gallants misplaced 2-0 to Yanga within the first leg of the semi-final conflict at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Wednesday.

“What a game, it’s just that we lost it. But we feel like it is not a game that we should have lost. We got chances, and we missed four chances in a row which were clear goal-scoring opportunities. They got two chances and scored two goals, all in the second half,” stated the Gallants mentor.

“But looking at the game, it is one game which we felt was not difficult. It is just that we could not finish our chances. On that basis, we still feel that we are still (in the tournament). We have to play the second leg at home. But in terms of play, it is a game where we feel like we can come back and win the game.”

Mdaka additionally stated that he missed some of his key gamers within the conflict towards Yanga and that he’ll make some modifications within the return leg, and he desires his workforce to remain strong on the again to extend their probabilities of reaching the Confed Cup final.

Gallants will host Yanga within the second leg on Wednesday subsequent week.

“There had been some gamers who weren’t there. Remember Celimpilo Ngema was not there, Lesiba Nku was not there, Lebogang Mabotja was additionally not there as a result of of the accidents. We hope that they are going to be out there once we play at house.

“We were once in this situation when we played USM Alger. And they looked better than the team we played (Young Africans), not undermining. But for us, we just have to get an early goal to unsettle them and put them under pressure.
