Geoghegan Hart claims second stage in row at Tour of the Alps

Tao Geoghegan Hart made it two wins from two at the Tour of the Alps with victory on the second stage.

The 28-year-old pulled clear with Jack Haig in the closing levels earlier than pipping the Australian to the line. It will increase his total race result in 18 seconds over Felix Gall whereas Hugh Carthy is third, one other 4 seconds again.

“You have to recognise Pavel in that final, he made it very easy, he kept the race together. Without his strength and experience it would have been much harder to keep that group together,” Geoghegan Hart mentioned.

“I only had to do about 70 metres in the end because I couldn’t pedal after the sprint anyway.”

Things will boost much more Wednesday in the 162.5km third stage from Ritten to Brentonico San Valentino, ending with a first-category summit end.
