Kaden Groves received a mass bunch dash for the line on stage 4 of the Volta a Catalunya on Thursday on a largely flat run to Sabadell.
Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel stay locked on the identical time atop the general standings with three levels remaining, together with a summit end on Friday.
Groves pipped Bryan Coquard at the line through the use of a late-thrust, bike-throw transfer to win by centimetres.
The race left the Pyrenean thermal spa village of Llivia at 1200m altitude for a 188km run to Sabadell. A five-rider break by no means bought too far forward and Evenepoel’s Soudal-Quick Step staff made positive the race ended in a mass dash.
However, Friday’s stage 5 from Tarragona winds again into the mountains for a run that culminates in a large climb to a summit end the place stamina could begin to sap.
