Hyundai adds special livery for Craig Breen

Hyundai Motorsport has determined to compete this week (April 20-23) within the Croatia Rally, the fourth spherical of the FIA World Rally Championship, with a two-car entry following the accident in pre-event testing through which Craig Breen misplaced his life.

The determination to take part was reached after cautious consideration, together with discussions with the household of Breen, his co-driver, James Fulton, and Hyundai Motorsport’s crews and group members. Breen’s household and Fulton confirmed it was their want that the group ought to compete in Croatia in honour of Craig.

The two Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Hybrid crews can be Thierry Neuville/Martijn Wydaeghe and Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm.

“After careful consideration involving all stakeholders, we have decided to participate in the Croatia Rally. We will do this in memory of Craig, to honour him, his passion for rallying and his competitive spirit.”

“We shall enter two vehicles and withdraw the third entry as a mark of respect. Both vehicles will run with a special livery for Craig, his household, associates and followers. It is evident from chatting with everybody that one of the best ways to honour Craig’s legacy was to not withdraw our entry, so we take part aware of our misplaced team-mate, pal and unbelievable competitor.

“It was clear from the suggestions given by all who knew Craig nicely that taking part could be one of the best ways to honour him. We consulted with the household, and so they have endorsed this method.

“We are contesting this rally primarily to honour Craig and his incredible life and talent. Craig was a proud Irishman and passionate representative of the Irish rally community so the livery will represent the colours of the Irish flag in his memory.”
