John Plumtree optimistic about Sharks’ future

Sharks coach John Plumtree believes his group have laid a strong basis for subsequent season following the tip of their 2023/24 marketing campaign in Durban on Saturday.

It has been a season of highs and lows for the Sharks.

The highs got here from the Challenge Cup which they received in London 10 days in the past, and in doing so certified for subsequent seasonā€™s high tier Champions Cup, whereas the lows are attributed to a poor exhibiting within the United Rugby Championship.

The facet from Durban have been the worst-performing South African franchise within the URC, ending in 14th place on the log.

They ended their season with a 26-14 defeat to the Bulls at Durbanā€™s Kings Park Stadium on Saturday, their 14thĀ defeat of their URC marketing campaign.

ā€˜Reflect more on the seasonā€™

Sharks mentor, Plumtree, who re-joined the Sharks for a second stint as head coach in the beginning of the season, mirrored on the time period in his post-match press convention on Saturday, saying that they had put constructing blocks in place for the future.

ā€œIā€™m flying back to New Zealand next week and on my flight, Iā€™ll probably reflect more on the season,ā€ stated Plumtree.

ā€œWe have completed loads of work however we nonetheless have loads of work to do. Right from the beginning I requested for persistence as a result of I didnā€™t imagine the squad was adequate to be a drive within the URC with the Springboks coming in slowly after the World Cup (in France late final yr) and our depth not being adequate.

ā€œWe have learned a lot and I have learned a lot. The coaching team did a good job.Ā  It was a good step for the future,ā€ he stated.
