Jonas Vingegaard returns to racing at Donostia San Sebastian

After a protracted rehabilitation and his second place at the Tour de France, Jonas Vingegaard has taken it a bit simpler in latest weeks, however after a brief interval of relaxation and a superb coaching block later, the Dane is now prepared for the Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa and Tour de Pologne.

“I was very tired after the Tour. I did nothing for five days. I recharged my batteries and then started training again. Everything went well. At the moment I feel fresh again and I am ready to start the next two races. San Sebastian and the Tour of Poland are two very nice races. Moreover, I have a special bond with Poland. I took my first victory in the WorldTour there,” says Vingegaard.

Even extra emotional is his return on Saturday within the Basque Country, the area the place he had his nasty crash within the spring.

“It will be of course a special to return to the Basque Country, after everything that happened there a few months ago. Fortunately, I also have a lot of great memories of that region, so I am really looking forward to cycling there again in competition.”

“In Poland, the beginning will also be very tough. There is also a very tough stage at the end of the race, so we will have to be focused all week. I have set my sights on grabbing the final victory this year, but of course the competition should not be underestimated. I hope to fight for the highest possible in both races.”
