A day after Tadej Pogacar obtained a giant blow in first mountains stage from Jonas Vingegaard, the Slovenian is totally again within the recreation on the Tour.
In the second stage within the Pyrenees he disrupted Jumbo-Visma’s grasp plan by driving away from Vingegaard with a fiery assault on the ultimate climb to Cauterets Cambasque. In the final classification, he decreased his hole to 25 seconds.
“Pogacar had the better legs. We already tried it on the Tourmalet, but I couldn’t get it off. I liked that, I think it would have been perfect to ride through that valley with Wout. The team as a whole was great, so I really have to thank them.”
“However, Tadej was better than we expected and I now know it will be another tough fight. I’m where I want to be at the moment, but anything can happen.”
Pogacar took 28 seconds in a day the place Jumbo-Visma was a lot superior by way of depth.
“I had hoped for a stage win, but Tadej was strong and deserved the stage victory. We wanted to test him again and see how he felt. I suppose he was better than before.
