Klay Thompson Shares Message on His Upcoming Free Agency

At 34 years of age, Klay Thompson is ready to hit free company over the summer time and he has lately opened up about his mindset.

It is not any secret that Klay needs to stay at Golden State for the whole lot of his profession – the place he’s gained 4 championships and constructed a dynasty alongside Draymond Green and Steph Curry.

But as free company edges nearer, Thompson and the Dubs are not any nearer to agreeing on a brand new contract.

Klay shared some pretty cryptic ideas on whether or not he’ll keep within the Bay past the 2023-24 season.

“That’s the beauty of the game right there,” Thompson stated on The Draymond Green Show. “Not trying to get another max deal or another endorsement, but just smelling the roses and appreciating all the work it took to get here. In saying that, when it comes to free agency in July, I just gotta keep that in mind. Like, yes, I want to re-sign with the Dubs, but I also have to prioritize my mental health and lay out what is important to me at this point in my career. And I know we have so much basketball ahead that I haven’t given it much thought, really, because if I start thinking about July 1st, then I’m just doing myself a disservice. I’m not here. I’m not thinking about the Hornets tomorrow or these must-win games this weekend, so for me, it’s just about staying present, as simple as that is. Staying present and appreciating being in the NBA.”

Judging by the dialog Klay had with Draymond, ESPN‘s Stephen A. Smith thinks that Thompson’s days in Warriors colours are numbered.

“It’s an indication that the end is near, and they know it,” Smith stated on First Take. “I’m telling you proper now that no matter the truth that they’re going to make the play-in, you aren’t spending that cash for those who’re Joe Lacob and Peter Gruber, to be within the play-in. You might spend much less cash and make the play-in.

“And so, when you look at the Golden State Warriors and the fact that you have been battling through the play-in, last year you get to the semifinals and stuff like that, you do get to the point where you’d love to keep these guys together? Sure, but will the money work? That’s the question mark.”
