‘Kohli spat at me and AB de Villiers later intervened’ – Elgar recalls

Recently retired Proteas opener Dean Elgar has recalled how AB de Villiers got here to ‘bat’ for him after ex-Indian captain Virat Kohli spat on him.

Elgar performed his final sport for the Proteas in Newlands final month.

In 86 Test matches, the left-hander has scored 5,347 for the nationwide crew together with 14 centuries.

In his 12 years with the Proteas, Elgar has shared fierce rivalry with many, together with Indian batsman Virat Kohli.

Speaking on Banter with The Boys podcast, the previous opener mentioned Kohli was spat at him throughout a Test match.

Elgar and Kohli had beef however De Villiers stepped in, based on the opener

“I came in to bat and, I was actually like holding my own against Ashwin and what’s his name Jeja, Jeja, Jeja (Ravindra Jadeja) and Kohli spat at me. I said to him if you do that, I’ll **** you with this bat,” he not too long ago mentioned as per Wionews.

“Yes, he did because de Villiers was his teammate at RCB, so he understood. And I said if you do that, I’ll **** on this field, I’ll absolutely knock you out. And then [he said] ‘Hey **** you, **** you’ (mimicking Kohli), barking up the wrong tree. Anyways, we are in India so you got to be a little bit cautious.”

Elgar mentioned his ex-teammate AB de Villiers came upon and had a chat with the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain.

“De Villiers found out what he did, and went up to him and asked ‘Why are you spitting at my teammate?’ Two years later in South Africa, he called me and asked if he could go with me for a drink after the series. He said he wanted to apologise for his action.” He concluded by saying, “We drank till 3 and ya, that was my first encounter with Kohli,” mentioned the ex-Proteas Test skipper.

AB bats for his mate towards bullish Virat

Elgar and Kohli appeared to have sorted their distinction after the 2 have been seen embracing one another.

In the second innings of the Newlands Test, Elgar was dismissed for 12 and as he was strolling off, Kohli didn’t rejoice his wicket however went to hug the opener, thus exhibiting his respect.
