Lab test confirms Aaron Phangiso bowls with non-compliant action

Joburg Super Kings’ left-arm spinner Aaron Phangiso underwent an ICC Accredited Bowling Action Test on the University of Pretoria on 27 January.

The Test was overseen by ICC accredited practitioner, Dr Helen Bayne.

The test confirmed that Phangiso had bowled with a non-compliant action as recognized by the SA20 Independent Bowling Action Panel.

Phangiso’s suspension from bowling within the ongoing SA20 stays in pressure.

Phangiso will work via a rehabilitation course of on his bowling action and the Independent Panel will decide the method relating to re-testing of the action as soon as the rehabilitation work is full.  

Aaron Phangiso performed 21 ODIs for South Africa

All the assorted stakeholders in Phangiso’s profession – Northerns Cricket Union, Cricket South Africa, the South African Cricketers’ Association, Joburg Super Kings and SA20 – are aligned of their dedication to help the participant in no matter method is required, acknowledging that such a course of is extremely troublesome for a participant.

Joburg Super Kings have requested permission to switch Phangiso for the rest of the SA20 2023 with Kyle Simmonds, which can happen with fast impact.

Phangiso, now 39, performed 21 ODIs and 16 T20Is for the Proteas.

The Joburg Super Kings are at the moment fourth within the six-team SA20 standings having performed seven of their 10 round-robin matches up to now.

They will subsequent be in action on Friday, 3 February in opposition to the Paarl Royals at 13:30.
