Laporte continues winning streak at Dwars door Vlaanderen

Christophe Laporte received the Dwars door Vlaanderen on Wednesday.

Laporte backed up final Sunday’s win at the Gent-Wevelgem after being a part of a breakaway with 4km to go in northwestern Belgium.

The route included 11 climbs and eight cobbled sections close to the French border.

“A difficult day but a great day. All the team were great. I’m very happy to win again,” Laporte mentioned. “I was strong on the climbs and made the selections there. It was a good collaboration in the group”.

Oier Lazkano claimed the most effective results of his profession, ending second for Movistar.

“I had always seen on my TV at home that these are beautiful races,” Lazkano mentioned. “I’m so pleased with my second place right here. It’s superb.

“Jumbo are having an amazing classics season and playing their cards very well,” the Basque rider added.

Neilson Powless repeated his feat from Milan-Sanremo earlier this month and was assured of his possibilities at the Tour of Flanders regardless of the presence of Tadej Pogacar, Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel.

“I think I’m still a dark horse for Flanders,” Powless mentioned. “There’s going to be a a lot stronger discipline there so I stay up for the problem and I hope I can have the identical legs I had right this moment on Sunday.

“If I can, then I’m quite sure I can be in the mix,” the 26-year-old added.
