Lewis Hamilton has spoken about how he had bananas thrown at him and was repeatedly known as the N-word throughout a “traumatising” school profession.

The seven-time Formula One world champion, who grew up in a city close to London, detailed the racial abuse within the On Purpose podcast, launched on Monday.
The 38-year-old, who’s making ready for his seventeenth season in F1, stated: “For me, school was probably the most traumatising and most tough half of my life.

“I used to be already being bullied at the age of six. At that individual school I used to be one of three children of color and simply greater, stronger, bullying children have been throwing me round loads of the time.
“And the fixed jabs, the issues which are both thrown at you, like bananas, or folks that will use the N-word simply so relaxed. People calling you half-caste and never figuring out the place you slot in. That for me was tough.
“In my (secondary) school there were six or seven black kids out of 1 200 kids and three of us were put outside the headmasters’ office all the time.”
The British driver stated he felt the system was towards him, including that he suppressed “a lot of things”.
“I didn’t feel I could go home and tell my parents that these kids kept calling me the N-word, or I got bullied or beaten up at school today,” he stated.
“I didn’t want my dad to think I was not strong.”
Hamilton stays F1’s solely black driver. He has established Mission 44, which goals to boost the lives of folks from under-represented teams, and Ignite, a joint enterprise along with his Mercedes crew to enhance range in motor racing.
