This 12 months’s PGA Championship is being performed at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky. — one of many nice bourbon epicenters on this planet, and the place practically all of it’s made. Louisville is the one metropolis on this planet with greater than 10 distillery experiences, a bourbon cocktail and culinary path — even bourbon-themed lodging and procuring.

While sampling bourbon straight-up may not be for everybody, palate-pleasing cocktails made with bourbon abound. Among them: the venerable Old Fashioned, which is crafted with easy syrup, bitters and a contact of orange. It’s a basic cocktail, and one which’s simpler to make than you’d suppose.

Ingredients:

-Bourbon
-Simple syrup
-Orange bitters
-Orange slice
-Ice
-Cherry garnish

In a lowball glass, begin with a couple of squirts of straightforward syrup. Next, add a few dashes of bitters. Then, place an orange slice within the backside of the glass and muddle the flesh of the orange with the straightforward syrup and bitters.

“What muddling does, it just releases the flavors,” Cozby says. “This is gonna maximize the flavor of that orange slice.”

After the muddling, pour in a couple ounces of bourbon and high with ice. The ultimate contact? A cherry for garnish.

The outcome: A cocktail that’s rattling good!
