Mathieu van der Poel received Milan-San Remo on Saturday to declare the primary ‘Monument’ of the season with an assault which left a few of biking’s greatest stars trailing in his mud.
Van der Poel received the race his grandfather Raymond Poulidor took 62 years in the past after surging clear on the ultimate Poggio climb.
