Motorsport SA awards national status to SA Endurance Champs

The Southern African Endurance Championship has been awarded National Championship status by Motorsport SA following a profitable 2022 season.

The short-term objective of the Southern African Endurance Series, the rights holder to each the SA Endurance Championship and SA GT National Championship, was to enhance the usual and high quality of their racing properties in addition to afford opponents the chance to be topped as National Champions for each the general title in addition to the Index of Performance Championship.

“It has been my objective to gain National Championship status for the SA Endurance Championship, which delivered the first Black and youngest endurance champion last year after Kwanda Mokoena sealed the title at the final round. Our three champions will forever be inscribed in South African motorsport history which makes me very proud.”

“Now that we have achieved this goal, it makes our properties more attractive to Sponsorships and in turn increased focus on development from our Africa Race Together Foundation. Our attention can turn to my medium-term objective of establishing an All-African Championship which will see us racing in various countries”.

Southern African Endurance Championship races

The Southern African Endurance Championship presents races from three to 9 hours in period and caters for automobiles starting from open-top sport automobiles just like the Ligier JS53, GT3 automobiles together with Porsches, Lamborghinis and Audis, modified and customary saloons in addition to the Class E Lexus-powered Backdraft Roadsters which options as a championship-in-a-championship.

The first spherical of the SA Endurance National Championship takes place with the opening spherical of the SA GT National Championship on 3rd and 4th March at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria.
