‘My love for Aston Martin didn’t change’ – Alonso declares

Two-time Formula One champion Fernando Alonso claims ‘his love for Aston Martin never changed’ after extending his contract with the group.

The 43-year-old veteran driver was tipped with a transfer to Red Bull Racing in latest weeks.

After it was introduced that seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton was leaving Mercedes, Alonso was tipped to switch him. At the time, the Spaniard was in his final season with Aston Martin and he declared himself a free agent.

With Mercedes regressing this season, Fernando Alonso informed the media after the Japanese Grand Prix {that a} transfer to the German group was not best as they have been slower than Aston Martin. With Red Bull more likely to maintain Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen, the previous Renault driver may need had not choice.

“It was easy,” he mentioned.
