Panel: Who is your all-time favourite Mexican featherweight and why?

Wayne Alexander (Former European welterweight champion)

Salvador Sanchez is a private favourite. He merely had all of it: an important chin, stability, footwork, timing, mixture punching and very respectable energy. He was the WBC and Ring champion from 1980 to ’82 and beat future world champion Juan Laporte and a future Hall-of-Famer in Azumah Nelson. His profession was tragically minimize quick, however in these two years as a world champion he confirmed all of the attributes required to be an all-time nice featherweight.

Jason Cunningham (Former European super-bantamweight champion)

Erik Morales. One of the Mexican greats and at all times entertaining. Had an important rivalry with Marco Antonio Barrera. Relentless fighter.

Dave Allen (Heavyweight contender)

I must go along with Marco Antonio Barrera. He received the one struggle he and Erik Morales had at featherweight, so that almost edges it to him for me.

Declan Warrington (Journalist)

He not often spoken about in the identical hushed tones as Marco Antonio Barrera or Erik Morales, however Juan Manuel Marquez. He was as swish, fluid and aggressive a counter-puncher as any of his period, and repeatedly troubled a far better Manny Pacquiao than the one Barrera and Morales encountered. Marquez, finally, had much more than these two – which shouldn’t be stated evenly by anybody.
