Pedersen stuns field with powerful sprint at BEMER Cyclassics

Mads Pedersen clinched BEMER Cyclassics title, after catching the breakaway within the closing metres of the one-day race in Hamburg, Germany.

Pedersen produced a dramatic acceleration from the peloton within the dying levels of the 205.6 kilometres race to take the win.

A 3-man breakaway of Brandon McNulty, Nils Politt and Yves Lampaert seemed like they had been on track to battle out the win, earlier than Pedersen’s intervention.

“The three guys still had a gap with 1km to go,” Pedersen mentioned after the race. “I simply tried to leap throughout as I used to be unsure we might catch them within the sprint. I used to be simply going all-out and didn’t know what was occurring from behind.

“Danny [Van Poppel] came pretty fast in the end, but luckily it was enough to take the victory.”
