Formula One’s sole tyre producer Pirelli has introduced what tyre compounds drivers and groups may have at their disposal within the final two European rounds of the 2023 F1 season.

Although Pirelli gives three compounds – the softs, mediums, and hards – to each Grand Prix, there are six tyre compounds obtainable for 2023 that differ between races.

The hardest of those six compounds is the C0, with the second-hardest being the C1, and so on, till reaching the C5, the softest tyre within the present F1 arsenal. In actuality the 2023 C1 is a model new compound that made a profitable debut in Bahrain whereas this yr’s hardest obtainable compound, the C0 is successfully final yr’s C1 compound.

The F1 area is ready to assemble at Zandvoort subsequent weekend with the Dutch Grand Prix going down on 25-27 August. Pirelli has chosen the C1, C2, and C3 compounds for Zandvoort, as was the case final yr.

The well-known Dutch circuit is among the most demanding circuits of the yr for tyres, particularly with the 2 banked corners (Turn 3 and Turn 14). But the nomination isn’t similar to 2022: as talked about, this yr’s C1 is a brand new and softer compound that sits between the C2 and the earlier C1.

Just every week after the Dutch Grand Prix, groups make a protracted journey to Northern Italy for the Italian Grand Prix. Despite the excessive speeds achieved at Monza, the three softest compounds have been chosen for the ‘Temple of Speed’: C3, C4, and C5. This is one step softer than final yr’s nomination which sported the trio of the C2, C3, and C4 compouncds.

Drivers will face one other sporting problem at Monza because the Italian Grand Prix would be the second time that Pirelli implements the choice tyre allocation. The new method that made its debut on the Hungarian Grand Prix earlier than the summer time break implies that drivers will solely get 11 units as a substitute of the standard 13 units.

This means simply three units of Hard tyre, 4 units of Medium, and 4 units of the Soft tyre. Furthermore, they’re compelled to run the exhausting within the first qualifying phase, adopted by means of the medium compound in Q2 and the comfortable compound in Q3.
