Pitch invader escapes sanction in

The protestor carrying a rainbow flag and sporting a Superman t-shirt adorned with politically motivated messages has been launched and can face no additional authorized motion on the World Cup in Qatar.

A 35-year-old Italian, Mario Ferri, was arrested on Monday night time after he streaked onto the sector in the course of the Group H World Cup match between Portugal and Uruguay in Qatar.

Ferri, a self-proclaimed human rights activist, climbed onto the roof of the Portugal bench to leap onto the pitch. He ran onto the sector swinging and waving rainbow LGBTQ flag whereas sporting a Superman t-shirt with the slogans “Save Ukraine” on the entrance and “Respect for Iranian Woman” on the again.

Ferri ran a big size of the pitch earlier than he was tackled by safety. He was then arrested and detained by Qatari police.

On Wednesday, Ferri confirmed his was launched from detention at 3am and that he is not going to face any additional authorized motion from the Qatar authorities.

Speaking to a European-based radio station, Ferri mentioned that the Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, got here to his rescue.

He added that Infantino had requested him why he did what he did on the Qatar World Cup because it was “very dangerous”.

“The president of Fifa, Gianni Infantino, came personally to help me.”

“Fifa does not consider my symbols to be violent. It was a message of peace, but the police are human and they treated me very well.”

“They were able to prevent the captains from doing it, the players, but they were not able to prevent the message of this Robin Hood.”

Following his launch, Ferri posted a message on his instagram, saying:

“I’m back. So many emotions in this moment. No legal consequences, I am free. Here is a message to thank you.”

Qatar kicks Ferri out of World Cup

A spokesperson for the Qatar Supreme Commitee (SC) mentioned Ferri had his Hayya visa card to enter nation cancelled and he was banned from attending future matches at this 12 months’s match.

The Italian is because of depart Qatar on Thursday.
