Proteas go big to avoid another Dutch defeat

The Proteas have named their strongest doable squad as they give the impression of being to safe a 2-0 sequence win over the Netherlands.

Usually a sequence towards the Dutch wouldn’t make headlines. But on this occasion, the upcoming matches at Willowmoore Park and Wanderers Stadium are of nationwide significance.

Must win matches

The Proteas should win each of their are to avoid needing to qualify in a match that includes minnows for a spot on the 2023 World Cup.

So that being stated, new Proteas white-ball coach Rob Walter has picked his greatest squad. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje have been referred to as up after lacking the Proteas’ sequence towards the West Indies.

“We have named our strongest possible squad for these games given the importance of these matches in the context of qualifying for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup,” stated Walters.

“We have a job to do and I am confident that, with this group of players, we can get the job done.”

Director of Cricket Enoch Nkwe added: “Cricket South Africa would like to wish Rob and his team well for the series against the Netherlands. The second match of the series will be a special occasion as it marks the annual Pink Day. This is an important day in the CSA calendar as it allows us to raise awareness and funds for an important cause. It’s a game that everyone is looking forward to.”

The first match is at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Friday (13:00) and Wanderers Stadium on Sunday, 2 April (10:00).
