Proteas wilt under Indian onslaught: Skittled out for 55

The Proteas battling lineup suffered a complete collapse within the first session on day one of many second Test towards India in Cape Town on Wednesday morning.

In the absence of injured skipper Temba Bavuma, Dean Elgar took over the captain’s armband. He received the toos and bizarrely opted to bat towards the Indian assault on a blower pleasant inexperienced pitch in Cape Town.

And the choice backfired spectacularly, as South (*55*) submit their lowest whole since they have been bowled out for 36 and 45 towards Australia in Melbourne in 1931-32.

Indian tempo bowler Mohammed Siraj was the destroyer in chief with career-best figures of  6-15 in 9 overs. Mukesh Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah accounted for the opposite 4 Proteas wickets, taking two every.

Proteas wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne was the highest scorer with 15 runs, adopted by David Bedingham who scored 12. No different batsman made it to double figures.

India are at the moment batting with the rating on 53 for 1 after 9 overs bowled.
