Rassie says Rickelton should be in the Proteas squads

Proteas batsman Rassie Van der Dussen mentioned he was shocked that Ryan Rickelton was omitted for the India sequence.

Van der Dussen and Rickelton shared an SA20 report 200-run partnership for the first wicket towards the Joburg SuperKings at the Wanderers.

The Cape facet gained the match by 98 runs.

Rickelton made 98 whereas Rassie reached his fourth T20 century.

“I think he’s been hard done by to not be involved in any of the squads against India. He’s had a really good two to three years in all formats,” Van der Dussen was quoted on TimesLive.

“I understand how badly he needs to play worldwide cricket. Quinny will be transferring on and Ryan suits into that mould of somebody who can change Quinny. He positively has the sport.

“He’s very resilient and sometimes setbacks give you a platform to come back. I know how hard he works, he was disappointed not to be in the Proteas squads, but he’s kept his head down, he’s worked hard and I’m glad that so far it’s come off for him,” Rassie added.

“I really hope it continues and he has a strong tournament to remind people he’s still there and he’s a world class player.”
