Remco Evenepoel opts for 2023 Giro d’Italia over Tour de France

Vuelta and world street race champion Remco Evenepoel stated on Wednesday he’ll trip the Giro d’Italia in 2023, slightly than the Tour de France.

The 22-year-old Belgian posted a video on social media from the seaside at Amalfi.

“Ciao tutti! I’m in Italy for the moment to do some recons,” stated Evenepoel, who was sporting a crash helmet and a biking jersey with the world champion’s rainbow on it.

“I’ll trip the Giro in 2023.

“It will be special as I will be wearing my rainbow jersey.”

The head of his Quick-Step workforce, Patrick Lefevere, had already stated he would like Evenepoel to attend till 2024 to strive the Tour de France.

The Giro in May consists of three time trial levels, totalling 70.6 kilometres. The Tour de France in July has only one time trial of 22km.

Evenepoel made his Grand Tour debut within the 2021 Giro however dropped out after a crash on the seventeenth stage.

His second Grand Tour was within the Vuelta in September. He took the lead on the sixth stage and by no means surrendered it as he grew to become his nation’s first Grand Tour winner since 1978.
