“Well, I think the first thing is, you’ve got to understand media,” Paul told GQ. “And I believe the media has the job. Some of it’s scripted, a few of it’s primarily based on analytics, a few of it’s primarily based on viewership. When you speak about these subjects, you see an increase within the viewership. And so the media, because it pertains to any participant, however [especially] AD, goes to kick you once you down.
“Over the final couple years, he’s had some actually freak conditions. Guy will get pushed into his knee. And then I believe the one earlier than that, or the 12 months earlier than that, was a hamstring or a groin, no matter it was. Those are the issues that occur once you play the game.
“People act like, ‘Oh, he’s just hoping to go out and get injured.’ Or, ‘The guy don’t want to play.’ It’s stupidity at times, but that’s what comes with it. But for me, it’s always been the same as with any guy, especially at that level. There’s no doubt in the talent, and in the ability to play the game at the high level—I think he’s shown that.”
This season, Davis has already missed video games as a result of sickness, in addition to again and calf accidents.
