Robson Conceicao-O’Shaquie Foster world super featherweight title rematch ordered by WBC

ROBSON CONCEICAO should make the primary defence of his WBC super featherweight world title towards the person he beat, O’Shaquie Foster, after a rematch was ordered by the World Boxing Council.

On July 6 within the third defence of his belt Foster misplaced to the Brazilian challenger by break up resolution. Judge Ron McNair scored the bout 116-112 to Foster whereas judges Tony Lundy and Paul Wallace favoured Conceicao 116-112 and 115-113.

The verdict was met with puzzlement within the venue and on social media with many believing the champion deserved the nod. And on the Boxing News app no-one scored the battle for Conceicao.

Earlier at present (July 22) WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman made the announcement on social media platform X.

“The WBC Board of Governors has ruled to order a direct rematch between WBC super featherweight champion Robson Conceicao & former champion @OshaquieFoster.”

The information will come as a aid to Foster who shared his anger and frustration with the unique consequence on X the day after his loss.

“Dirty game,” he wrote. “One of the easiest fights of my life. We will be doing everything possible to make this right. But I will tell yall this – in the rematch he not making it to 12 (I) promise you that.”

The battle itself was one to overlook with motion at a premium. Fingers crossed the rematch is a a lot better spectacle.
