Russell to start from pit lane at the Singapore Grand Prix

Mercedes driver George Russell will start the Singapore Grand Prix in the pit lane after taking a brand new energy unit which exceeded his allocation for the present season.

Russell endured a dismal qualifying session yesterday, struggling a shock exit at the finish of the second qualifying session which meant that he was due to start the race in eleventh place.

Commenting on the challenge, the Brit stated that it was associated to the brakes: “I used to be combating a brake-related challenge, pushing me into the corners.

„The grip felt good, I simply couldn’t get round any corners. I saved understeering off, which is such a disgrace. I don’t suppose we’d have been any higher in Q3, due to that drawback,” he concluded.

With the Marina Bay Circuit identified to be a circuit on which overtaking is at premium, Mercedes opted to package Russell out with a brand new inside combustion engine, turbocharger, motor generator unit – warmth (MGU-H), motor generator unit – kinetic (MGU-Ok), power retailer and management electronics.

The FIA issued a doc by which it said that the adjustments have been made with out the approval of the FIA technical delegate. It meant that Mercedes have breached the phrases of Article 40.3 of the 2022 Formula One Sporting Regulations, and Russell might be compelled to start in the present day’s Singapore Grand Prix from the pit lane quite from the back-of-the-grid that might have been the regular process.
