Veteran British bicycle owner Mark Cavendish has been given a knighthood in King Charles’s birthday honours.
The 39-year-old from the Isle of Man shares the document of 34 Tour de France stage wins with the legendary Belgian Eddy Merckx and has delayed his deliberate retirement by a 12 months to have one other crack at claiming the document outright.
He received the world street race title in 2011 and was additionally a silver medallist in the omnium on the 2016 Olympics.

“I’m truly humbled to be honoured by His Majesty The King,” stated Astana rider Cavendish.

Other biking knights embrace Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins and Jason Kenny whose spouse Laura Kenny was made a dame in 2022.
