Sundowns confirm shock Rulani Mokwena departure

Mamelodi Sundowns have formally introduced the departure of Rulani Mokwena forward of the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

In a press release launched on Wednesday, the Brazilians maintained that they parted methods “amicably” regardless of studies that Mokwena was pushed out of the door resulting from a poor working relationship with sporting director Flemming Berg.

Mokwena leaves the membership after guiding them to again to again DStv Premiership titles as a sole head coach.

He joined the membership as a junior coach and was later promoted to the senior staff to work underneath former coach Pitso Mosimane.

The 37-year-old was a part of the 2016 staff that received the Caf Champions League the place he served as assistant coach alongside Mngqithi.

“Mamelodi Sundowns and Rulani Mokwena amicably concluded an agreement bringing to an end Rulani Mokwena’s employment as head coach,” the membership belatedly confirmed.

“Sundowns wishes to express its gratitude to Rulani Mokwena for his contribution to the successes and achievements of the club during his tenure as head coach. It’s not but clear if Mngqithi might be given the reins on a full time foundation however Patrice Carteron is rumoured to be the main candidate for the vacant seat.

The French coach has prior to now managed Egyptian giants Al-Ahly and Zamalek.
