SuperSport United did NOT pay Mamelodi Sundowns for returnee

SuperSport United did NOT pay a cent to Mamelodi Sundowns with a view to signal returnee and left wing-back Lyle Lakay.

In an interview with KickOff, Lakay revealed that he joined Matsatsantsa as a free agent following a profitable termination of his contract with Sundowns.

According to Lakay, his termination of contract was mutual, and this after it turned clear that he wasn’t in Rhulani Mokwena’s plans.

Lakay had simply returned from a mortgage spell with former membership Cape Town City, and had hoped to persuade Mokwena that he deserved to play for Sundowns.

However, Sundowns have Terrence Mashego and Aubrey Modiba in his place, and thus making it tough for Lakay to play commonly.

And that’s when he opted to return to the place all of it started, at SuperSport United, the place he additionally received to reunite with coach Gavin Hunt.

SUPERSPORT UNITED GOT LAKAY FOR FREE FROM MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

“I don’t think people know that I came SuperSport United for free,” revealed Lakay.

“People probably thought because of the business SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns have, people thought there was an agreement, no.”

“I came here on a free transfer. I had a mutual agreement with Sundowns to terminate [my contract], and I came to SuperSport United,” concluded Lakay.
