PINEHURST, N.C. — A U.S. Open champion might be topped later immediately on Pinehurst No. 2, however the one query remaining is who that may be.

Whoever wins Sunday evening will take house a document payday. The USGA introduced this U.S. Open will provide a $21.5 million purse with $4.3 million going to the winner — the biggest ever first-place examine awarded at a significant. The top-four finishers all win at the least 1,000,000 {dollars}, with the runner-up receiving $2.322 million.
