Two South African umpires to stand in Cricket World Cup

The International Cricket Council has introduced the 20 match officers for the League Round of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India together with two South Africans.

Adrian Holdstock and Marais Erasmus will make the journey to India as match officers.

The match officers are made up of 16 umpires and 4 match referees.

The whole Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and 4 members of the ICC Emerging Umpire Panel will stand in the match.

The skilled checklist consists of three of the 4 umpires who had been appointed for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 ultimate at Lord’s – Dharmasena, Erasmus and Tucker – with solely Aleem Dar lacking, who stepped down from the Elite Panel in March of this 12 months.

The Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees is represented on the occasion by a quartet of former worldwide cricketers, particularly, Jeff Crowe, Andy Pycroft, Richie Richardson and Javagal Srinath.

Srinath will take cost of the match opener between the final occasion’s finalists, England and New Zealand on 5 October in Ahmedabad. Menon and Dharmasena would be the standing umpires, with Paul Wilson as TV umpire and Saikat taking over fourth umpire duties.

We also wish them, and all the other match officials involved all the very best for the tournament.”

Sean Easey, ICC Manager – Umpires and Referees mentioned: “We are happy to announce the match officers who shall be overseeing the largest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup ever. This group is the perfect from world wide and shall be prepared to carry out a difficult job, with the eyes of the worldwide cricketing neighborhood focussed on the occasion. 

“We are confident that they will do an excellent job and wish them all the best of luck for what promises to be a World Cup to remember.”
