Tyronne White emerged from a five-man group to experience away for a convincing win on the “tough” Underberg Gran Fondo cycle race on Saturday.
The Ballito resident needed to experience by himself for the very best a part of about 80km as soon as the lead group broke aside and he crossed the road within the 140km gravel occasion in a time of 4:46:20, six minutes forward of ultra-distance maestro Kevin Benkenstein, with Thabiso Zindela claiming the third step of the rostrum.

“It was bloody hard,” was how White succinctly described his victory.
Long day within the saddle
Despite the powerful nature of the occasion, the Drive Train Academy rider mentioned he loved his lengthy day within the saddle.
“I am always happy with a win obviously, but we also had a good group of guys to ride with for the first half of the race. They were all nice to ride with and were all happy to do their share of the work.”
“We split up on the Coleford climb and then David (Shelley) was with me for a while until he dropped off and Kev (Benkenstein) rode back until a climb after about 60km when I went alone.”
“From there it was every man for himself until the finish.”
