Jonas Vingegaard took his firs win of the season at O Gran Camino, successful the first uphill end of the race, on Monte Trega.
The favourites group began Monte Trega climb with Jumbo-Visma pacing exhausting. Close to the final 2 km Jonas Vingegaard launched an enormous assault that no one might observe and claimes the victory.
“This win feels very good. I felt excellent during the day”, Vingegaard stated. “The guys worked hard. Luckily I had the legs to finish it off. The form is good, but I knew that beforehand. It was a tough climb, not least because of the cobbles in the last kilometre. I pushed myself to the limit. I wanted to win, especially for my girlfriend. Now we have the jersey, and of course, we want to keep it. The goal is to win the GC.”
