Wait, why are there 3 letters on the head of the PGA Tour’s leader?

Sam Burns eagled the third. He was perhaps protected. He birdied 4, 5 and 6. Still doubtless OK. But then he eagled once more, on 11. And birdied 13. And 14. And 15. And freaking 16. He was on a look ahead to golf’s magical quantity, a 59. 

But that additionally meant that the cameras would come. 

And in some unspecified time in the future, maybe round the time when he’d shake the arms of his taking part in companions and caddies, he’d additionally most likely need to take away his white hat. 

And eventually then, they’d present the left facet of his head. 

Where there had been three letters. And he’d presumably be considering of just a few selection phrases. 

To set this up, Burns is taking part in this week’s American Express match on the PGA Tour. But final fall, his school, Louisiana State, performed soccer. And on Nov. 3, the Tigers performed Alabama. And they misplaced, by two touchdowns.

And the left facet of his head was dealing with Thomas’ digital camera when Thomas snapped a photograph. He posted it to his Instagram tales. 

But these posts die after a day, proper? Maybe nobody would see. But then Burns went nuclear on Friday throughout the Am Ex’s second spherical. When he was finished, he was the chief. When he was completed together with his spherical of 11-under 61, he did greet his group. And he took off his hat. 

And the left facet of his head turned towards the Golf Channel cameras.

Where shaved into his hair had been these three letters:

RTR. 

Or Roll Tide Roll. Yeah, that’s one of the chants of Thomas’ Crimson Tide. Yeah, the associates had friendly-wagered. (Though, we’re questioning: What would JT have finished if LSU had received?)

The cameras stayed on Burns’ head. The commentators commented. 

Said announcer George Savaricas: “Little wager there with Justin Thomas from football season that Sam Burns finally settled. … I don’t think he was expecting the camera time there on the side.” 

Said announcer Terry Gannon: “Exactly right to take off your hat and show that, yeah.” 

Said Savaricas: “He’s a good man; he pays his bets, Terry.” 

Said Gannon: “Exactly.”

They confirmed Thomas’ Instagram story publish. On it, Thomas wrote: “I love your new haircut @samburns66. For sure didn’t lose a bet and did it on your own RTR.” On the broadcast, there had been extra ideas. 

Said Gannon: “I will never make a bet like that. I bet you right now that I won’t …”

Said Savaricas to analyst Brandel Chamblee: “You ever make a bet like that, Brandel?”

Said Chamblee: “I can’t say that I have.”

Said Savaricas: “You got too good a set of hair to make a wager like that.” 

There was extra. Golf Channel’s Steve Burkowski interviewed Burns. The golfer was requested if he hoped his hair grew again shortly. He did. But he was comfortable his job lets him put on a cap.    

But then Burkowski requested him to take it off. To present the of us at house. And he did. RTR, on dwell TV. 

Said Burkowski: “Roll Tide Roll. That’s tough for an LSU man, isn’t it?”

Said Burns: “Very. Very tough.” 

Said Burkowski, referring to Alabama’s just lately retired coach, Nick Saban: “Good news is, Saban’s gone, maybe you got a chance next year.” 

Said Burns: “Celebrating Saban’s retirement, as everybody else in Louisiana is.”

At the backside of this story is a pic of Thomas’ Instagram publish. But wait, you’re saying, you had the items since Monday and didn’t share?

Yeah, yeah we did. Thomas shared it, and that was perhaps sufficient for poor Burns. 

But then he began birdieing throughout the joint. And he’ll be on your screens this weekend. 

And you need to most likely know why he’s bought RTR on the facet of his head.
