Rui Costa had a nightmare start at Tour de Romandie along with his bike’s chainring coming off with first pedal stroke, earlier than even descending the start ramp of the opening time trial.
The Portuguese rider appeared to harm his knee throughout this weird incident, which compelled him to vary the time trial bike to his highway bike. He completed final, 4min52s behind prologue winner Josef Cerny.
