WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman says Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez are “committed and ready” and now aims to “make it into the best scenario for everyone”

SAUL ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and David Benavidez are each ‘committed and ready’ to struggle one another however WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman refused to affirm when their necessary conflict shall be known as.

Benavidez secured the most vital victory of his profession to date when he stopped Demetrius Andrade in Las Vegas on Saturday evening.

It was his second profitable defence of the WBC interim super-middleweight title and cemented his place as the No.1 contender for Canelo’s full title.

However, amid clamour for Benavidez and Canelo to meet on Cinco de Mayo weekend, the WBC have but to formally name the interim champion as necessary, which might then give the sides 90 days to focus on phrases.

And Sulaiman revealed to Boxing News that they are in no main rush to make that decision both.

He mentioned: “This is a superb struggle. Both fighters are dedicated and prepared and we’ll simply play it by ear and administer the course of appropriately. I’m certain that shall be best for everybody.

“We’re going to let Benavidez come again from his trip. We’re going to deal with this matter with the accountability and significance that it has.

“Major fights… big, big fights require specific situations to ensure that the fighters get what they deserve. We’re not going to push this to break it, we’re going to pull the sides together to try to make it into the best scenario for everyone.”

Canelo final fought in September when he cruised to a large factors determination in opposition to Jermell Charlo and, as is customary, the 33-year-old is anticipated to return on May 4.

And, when requested whether or not that date would possibly come round too quickly for Canelo-Benavidez, Sulaiman mentioned: “I don’t speculate.
